Top 10 Must Have Crystals for Your Collection
If you're just starting off within the mystical world of crystals, it can be overwhelming. There are literally thousands of options out there, and it can be daunting to know where to even start. But don't fret, I've got your back. In this blog post, I'll walk you through 10 must have crystals to add to your collection. To top it off, I go into detail about what makes these crystals so essential, their uses, associated chakras, elements, and zodiacs. You're welcome :)
I love me some fluorite. If I could sum the meaning of fluorite in one word, it would be: order. It's a great crystal when you need to get sh** done. Fluorite promotes focus, organization, and helps facilitate decision making. With everyone having to juggle a million things at once, well because…that's life, this is definitely a crystal worth having around. One of my favorite properties of fluorite is it's ability to help us focus on what's important. In other words, it's useful when setting priorities and goals.
If that wasn't enough, fluorite is also
highly protective and aids in clearing out negative thinking that might impede one's ability to focus. Additionally, fluorite comes in an array of colors from yellow, to purple, and everything in between. While each color offers unique benefits, all types offer the same general benefits of fluorite.
Color(s): Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink, Rainbow, Clear, Purple, Brown
Zodiac(s): Capricorn & Pisces
Chakras): Will vary by color (but the range of colors cover all chakras)
9. BLACK TOURMALINE (SCHORL)
Black tourmaline is the ultimate detoxifier and purifier and a staple in any crystal collection. It's a highly protective stone. It purifies negative energy and creates a protective shield around one’s aura. It is a common crystal to use to break curses and protect against physic attack. It can be used to balance all chakras.
It clears the aura and removes blockages. The iron content in black tourmaline protects against electromagnetic fields (EMFs). This makes it a great stone to keep near your computer or other electronic devices. Additionally, it mitigates fear and instills self-confidence. It promotes and attracts compassion, prosperity, acceptance, and creativity. It also brings mental balance.
Color(s): Black, but tourmaline itself, comes in a variety of colors.

The properties of Amazonite make this stone extremely multi-purpose. Amazonite is effective as a calming stone. It brings about balance, specifically to feminine and masculine energies. It is great for someone overcoming trauma. Additionally, it aids in navigating
through obstacles and challenges. It is wonderful at shielding against geopathic stress and electromagnetic pollution. If you're a worry-wart, it aids in dissolving worry and fear. Amazonite also works well in filtering out negative energy. It enhances self-expression and communication, while promoting universal love. It's blueish-green color makes it effect for use with the throat and heart chakras. Additionally, Amazonite discourages anger and agitation and aids in problem solving and analyzing multiple points of views.
Chakra(s): Throat and heart
Let's face it, we've all got baggage. I love working with rhodonite because it is one of the best stones in helping facilitate "letting go" and healing from things in the past…whatever that may be. However, it is especially useful for overcoming abandonment, betrayal, and emotional wounds. It aids in replacing feelings of anger, hurt, and bitterness and replacing with love and compassion. It encourages forgiveness and promotes new beginnings. Additionally, it helps in grounding one's energy and promotes achieving one's full potential.
Color(s): From pink to red with black
Element: Fire and earth
Chakra(s): Heart and root
Pyrite, is known as fools gold because of it's similar appearance to gold. It is another fave of mine. I'm not going to lie, one of the reasons I love pyrite because it adds a bit of bling to any room (fancy I know). But pyrite is more than just a pretty face. The benefits of pyrite are worth noting and why it belongs in your collection. Pyrite increases persistence, seeing things through, and will power. Let's be real…who doesn't need that?
Additionally, it has a very uplifting energy and aids in enhancing inner strength, self confidence and mitigating depression and sadness. It is a protective stone and shields against negative energy and manipulation. You can't have the name "fools gold" without promoting some $$$. Pyrite also encourages abundance and wealth.
Chakra(s): Solar Plexus

I know...there are like dozens of types of jasper so just saying "jasper" is pretty broad. While each type of jasper has its own unique attributes, all are rooted in the general properties of jasper. I'd recommend selecting a jasper that works best for your needs.
Jasper is known as the "supreme nurturer". This means anytime you're going through anything, jasper is a great crystal to work with. It greatly mitigates stress and brings about a sense of peace and tranquility. It helps with battling problems, “head on” and is great for someone seeking inner truth. It gives off a very vibrant energy and is fantastic for elevating one's mood. It can be helpful for those battling addictive or compulsive behaviors by enhancing emotional strength and energies. It stimulates imaginative thinking and promotes structure and organization. It can be used to align all chakras

3. SELENITE | SATIN SPAR
First off, what most people know as selenite, is actually satin spar. Both selenite and satin spar are types of gypsum. True selenite is transparent and doesn’t feature the opaque, fiber optic properties that are characteristic of satin spar. But don’t fret, they both have similar properties and can be used interchangeably. Think of them as uber close siblings.
Selenite/satin spar is most commonly used to cleanse. It is one of the simplest and fool-proof methods for cleansing other crystals. To do so, simply place your crystals on top of your selenite/satin spar and leave for at least 6 hours. It is excellent for cleansing one’s aura and removing toxic influence or energies. It can also be used in conjunction with cleansing herbs like sage when cleansing a space. Simply, place your selenite in the four corners of the space to help prevent unwanted energies from returning. Best of all due to its immense cleansing ability, selenite/satin spar never has to be cleansed!
Color(s): Selenite (most common-translucent white) Satin spar (most common-opaque white with flash). Also comes in orange/peach, brown, green and blue.
Chakra(s): Third Eye, Crown (For white color. Other chakras will vary based on color)
Okay, amethyst is another crystal that needs no introduction. Outside of the crystal in spot #1 on our list, it's probably one of the most diverse and multi-purpose crystals around. It is truly the "Jill of all trades". Where to start? The benefits and properties of amethyst are sooo broad. However, amethyst is coveted for its tranquilizing and cleansing effects. It is great for someone who tends to have an overactive mind, as it can help in easing ones thoughts.
It promotes intuitive thinking and is great for alleviating brain fog and offering a sense of clarity. Amethyst can also help facilitate decision making and increase memory retention. It is also helpful in enhancing motivation and focus. Amethyst is a powerful stabilizer, and not only can be used to stabilize one' emotions and energy, but it can also be used to stabilize the energies of other crystals. It is a fantastic crystal to work with when needing to overcome grief, fear, or anxiety. Amethyst is a highly spiritual stone and excellent for meditation and connecting with the divine. It aids in deepening inner connection with one’s self. Let's not forget that amethyst is also extremely effective as a protective stone, and is commonly used to ward off negative energies. In the olden days, amethyst was even used to prevent drunkenness. ;)
Color(s): Varying shades of purple
Zodiac(s): Aquarius and Pisces
Chakra(s): Third eye and crown
Clear quartz is the "Mack Daddy" of all crystals and is widely known as "the master healer". This is because it consists of all colors of the rainbow. To sum it up, clear quartz is pretty much good for any and everything. It’s a great fill-in if you are missing a particular chakra crystal because clear quartz works well with all chakras.
However, one key property of clear quartz is that it is a powerful amplifier
and is commonly used to amp other energies or crystals. It is also one of the best crystals for manifestation and clarity. Additionally, it promotes balance and helps with strengthening spiritual connection with the divine. Like amethyst, clear quartz is also one of the most abundant crystals in the world and one of the most easily attainable crystals.
