Selenite is a type of gypsum. What most people know as selenite, is actually satin spar. True selenite is transparent and doesn’t feature the opaque, fiber optic properties that are characteristic of satin spar.  But don’t fret, they both have similar properties and can be used interchangeably.  
 
Selenite/satin spur  is most commonly used to cleanse. It is great for cleansing other crystals. To do so, simply place your crystals on top of your selenite/satin spar and leave for at least 6 hours. It can be used to cleanse one’s aura and to remove toxic influence or energies. It can also be used in conjunction with cleansing herbs like sage when cleansing a space. Simply, place your selenite in the four corners of the space to help prevent unwanted energies from returning. Best of all due to its immense cleansing ability, selenite/satin spar never has to be cleansed!
